The goal of this event was to ask: Where do compassion science and climate science meet? What we do not have yet is the urgency of action that will make and sustain the kinds of efforts that are necessary to step back from the brink. For this event, Reveal Events Group was nominated for “Best Virtual Conference.”
Reveal Events Group was engaged by Stanford University CCARE and the University of Edinburgh’s Centre for Technomoral Futures and Global Compassion to produce “Realising a Compassionate Planet in November 2021, a groundbreaking event bringing compassion science into dialogue with climate science. There has never been a more urgent time to marshal the forces of compassion to change our relationship with the planet.
The recent United Nations climate report—endorsed by hundreds of scientists and representing thinking from every country on Earth—likens the current situation to a “code red” for humanity. Droughts, heatwaves, flooding, wildfires—the signs are all around us that we need to act now. This event brought together a stellar lineup of scientists, activists, artists, and changemakers for a series of conversations about what we in the compassion community can do to usher in a new era of change.
The global community’s response to climate change cannot rely on scientific expertise, accurate data, and technical excellence alone—it requires realizing the power of a compassionate planet.
