Every year, the U of A hosts an Open House in October so that prospective students & their families can tour the campus, ask questions, & get a feel for the University community.
This in-person open house is typically the largest recruitment event of the year & is targeted at high school students, their parents/guardians, educators, & councillors who might be recommending the U of A to prospective students.
At the time of planning, there was much uncertainty of what the Fall 2021 year would look like. With this in mind, the team at Tycoon Events had to be very strategic in presenting the campus & the culture of the University without over-promising what was unknown.
To provide the best virtual experience for potential students and their families, Tycoon had to consider how to connect the students with the campus, the programs, their peers, professors, campus staff, and alumni. They also needed to ensure that this would be a positive experience for everyone involved & accurately convey the spirit & culture that can be found at the U of A digitally.
The Virtual Open House was executed over three days to allow the participants enough time to tailor the experience to meet their needs and ensure they were able to collect all the information they were looking for. While planning for this Open House to be virtual, Tycoon had to be mindful of how they would attract attendees, keep their interest while participating, and ensure they had received enough information about the U of A to proceed with enrollment.
This format successfully allowed students to effectively explore the campus, learn about the programs available, interact directly with professors, chat with current students and alumni, and learn more about student life.
Congrats to Tycoon Events for winning ”Best Virtual Marketing Event” for the University of Alberta Open House 2020.”
