Does this sound familiar to anyone? This event, originally planned for June 2021, was postponed till Sept and then again till October, requiring Amy Burstyn Fritz & her team from Burstyn Inc. to pivot a few times, which meant securing vendors and making changes on the fly with short lead times.
You’d never know that if you attended the event, though because that’s what we do. We create experiences that appear seamless even when things are a little crazy behind the curtain.
Nominated in the category “Best Event for a Private Individual/Group,” Isaac’s Bar Mitzvah was a beautifully immersive experience inspired by Isaac’s love of basketball.
The Burstyn team transformed the Gladstone House‘s elegant ballroom into a sleek royal blue basketball court, including hoops and court-inspired vinyl flooring. Florals were inspired by the elegance of the 18th century, and silver mirror balls were strategically placed throughout the space to contrast with the blue and provide an extra dynamic element.
The basketball theme was carried into the food & beverage portions of the bar mitzvah; 10tation Event Catering Inc. created a menu with three different basketball-themed mocktails & cocktails for guests to enjoy.
While Isaac’s bar mitzvah was one celebration, Burstyn Inc. took into consideration the age disparity between guests and, as such, created two parties within the bar mitzvah – one with more of a lounge feel for adults and a kids’ dance party.
The kids’ party featured a DJ spinning music from a curated playlist based on Isaac’s taste, a mocktail bar, and an on-site artist to customize basketballs the children received as keepsakes from the event.
The adults’ lounge allowed guests to come together and celebrate Isaac in a more intimate setting, boasting an open bar, hor oeuvres, and music playing at a lower decibel.
Through the thoughtful consideration of Isaac’s interests and the needs of all attendees, Burstyn Inc. was able to transform Isaac’s bar mitzvah into an authentic, one-of-a-kind experience, ensuring Isaac will remember his special day for years to come.
Congrats to Amy Burstyn Fritz and her team for overcoming significant challenges to produce a fabulous event. Good luck on Sept 28 when the winners will be chosen at the 25th annual Canadian Event Awards live from Liberty Grand Entertainment Complex on the grounds of Exhibition Place.
