“Golf and Grill presented by Avison Young,” produced by Melanoma Canada & nominated for “Best Event for a Community Based Charity,” was a very cool event that combined two of my favourite things.
Given the challenges COVID-19 posed to fundraising via in-person events, Melanoma Canada opted to deliver a one-of-a-kind Golf Tournament. Drawing players from across the province and some from Quebec, this event allowed players to enjoy a day on the links while tasting the BBQ from some of Canada’s most notable Celebrity Chefs.
Every hole provided an opportunity to sample BBQ, taste a local brew or vine, or learn a sun safety fact. Celebrity Chefs included: ‘God Father of the Grill’ – Ted Reader, Food Network Chef – Massimo Capra, Female Grill Experts – Maddie and Kiki, Chef Christian Pritchard, and Pino Di Cerbo. Beverage partners included Flat Rock Cellars, Georgian Bay Spirit Co., and Something in the Water.
Guests could not get enough of Golf Entertainer and trick expert Todd Keirstead who challenged golfers, putting on an exciting show to help raise some extra bucks.
Seventy-one golfers attended the tournament at the Winchester Golf Club, followed by a patio cocktail reception at “The Joint,” Ted Reader’s restaurant across the street from the Club. Melanoma Canada presented tournament awards at the reception, and celebrity Chefs, Ted Reader, Massimo Capra, and Christian Pritchard hosted a Grill demo and offered up tips and tricks.
Guests are left with full bellies and full hearts, knowing the funds raised will provide crucial support services for melanoma and skin cancer patients.
A great event and one I’d have loved to have been at.
Congrats to everyone who helped make this event a great success, and good luck to the team from Melanoma Canada at the Canadian Event Awards Gala happening live from Liberty Grand Entertainment Complex on Sept 28, 2022 click here for more information.
